6 Steps to Start Riding

Step 1
Get a boat or find someone that will let you ride on thiers.

Step 2
Purchase a wakeboard, there is a sizing chart at the bottom of this page.

Step 3
Make sure your bindings are snug and comfortable. There are several types of bindings, but the main thing to look for is a snug, comfortable fit. New bindings may even be just a little tight. Use some soapy water to help your feet slide in, and they will begin to wear in as you use them more.

Step 4
Adjust your binding toward the rear of the board if you are a beginner. This helps sink the tail of your board and gives you more control. As you improve, you will want to move the bindings toward the center of the board for more difficult tricks.

Step 5
Start out with about 42 feet of wakeboard rope from the boat (ropes are adjustable). Wakeboard rope is different from water ski rope in that it is slightly more elastic and the weave is flatter near the handle. This increases comfort on wrap tricks. Both types of rope work fine though, so don't worry too much. Add more length as you improve on your board to make a bigger jumping gap from wake to wake.

Step 6
Wear a properly fitted life jacket and a wet suit for cold water and it breaks the fall some.

Buying Tips

You been thinking of buying a wake board, well I have several tips to get you on your way! When buying you have a lot of things to consider like your size, how big you wanna go and how advanced you are in the sport. Beginner, basic, and expert just like any sport! The more advanced you are gives you more options on what kind of board you need to be able to show your talent.
A Single tip has more of a point in the front of the board than the back. This will be a better board for those who want to water ski or snow ski it helps for speed across the water.
A double tip is pointed front and back, this board is for those who want a skateboard or snowboard feel. It is a Board that will help perform bigger stunts.
There are a few more design factors to look at as well like the “rocker” and the “Continuous rocker”. With the rocker design it’s the bend of the board. Considering if there is one or two curves in the board will affect the board’s performance! With the Continuous rocker it’s more of a smooth curve along the entire length of the board it will allow more water flow to pass smoothly under the board!
These are just a few tips and I will continue to update and give more information to help with buying Wake boards and also we will get into some moves and techniques. To either help newcomers understand and learn or maybe just to improve on you now basic or advance skills!

Things to note before choosing a board:
  • Height is NOT a factor
  • The chart above is a general sizing chart for beginer riders. Skill level, riding style, and board model are major factors to consider for ADVANCED riders.
  • NEVER choose a more advanced board than your skill level because you wont be able to stay on.
  • For a family board that will fit Mom, Dad, and Older Children a 136 is a good length. Unless riders are over 200 lbs or are under 100 lbs.

Wakeboarding

Wakeboarding in my opinion is the summer sport of all summer sports. I tried wakeboarding at an early age. My first board was an ICONN, it was old but I loved it. Remember the first time you tried to wakeboard? How was your first wakeboarding experience?:)
